Burao (SD) – Reports from Burao in Togdheer region say that the Somaliland security forces have arrested a number of people suspected to be behind ta planned attack in that town.
The three, identified as two men and a woman, were said to have been targeting the May 18 Independence Day celebrations.
The operation was reportedly carried out by Somaliland’s anti-terrorism forces RRU.
The suspects were said to be armed with explosives and were planning to target an unidentified the May 18 celebrations in the country.
Somaliland security forces arrested the three people and took them to Hargeisa for further investigations according to security sources in Burao.
The regional administration and the Somaliland government have not yet commented on the arrests of the suspects or the operation.
Somaliland is today celebrating the 30th anniversary of its declaration of independence, and has been seeking international recognition since then.
