Berbera (SD) – The Somaliland government has yesterday launched a vibrant and extensive mining operation in some parts of the country.
The Somaliland Ministry of Minerals and Energy announced that it launched the 40-day mining operation in the Sahil region.

Somaliland’s Minister of Minerals and Energy and other officials from the Sahil regional administration and Berbera district has announced that mineral exploration operations have officially begun in the mountainous areas of Hudisa, Laalays and Lasadawo in the Sahil region.

The Somaliland government has not said what type of minerals are being explored in the area, but there credible information that these and many other areas in Somaliland have potentially large deposits of undiscovered minerals.
