Spring rains cause damage in Somali Region

JIGJIGA (SD) – Residents of Mustahil district in the Western Somali Regional State are worried about possible flooding due to the spring rains, which have caused heavy rains in the area.

The Somali Regional State of Ethiopia has warned of possible floods due to the upcoming spring rains, adding to the concerns Mustahil residents have.

Residents said they’ve seen constant rains as the rainy season get underway as well as flooding from the highlands of Ethiopia.

Ahmed Yassin Sheikh Ibrahim, the Minister of Risk and Disaster Management of the Somali Regional State, told the media that the recent rains in parts of the Somali region have caused damage.

The minister said the victims had been provided with emergency supplies, such as food, plastic bags and other supplies.

Parts of Somali regional government have seen heavy rains. and killed the remaining livestock remaining in the area.
