SOOL (SD) -Reports are emerging about a fierce battle that erupted today on the outskirts of the city of Oog, in Sool region, which involves the local forces from Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo.
The intense conflict is said to be currently taking place in the village of Buq-Dharkayn, located near the town of Oog, which is more than 120 km northwest of Las Anod, the capital of Sool region.
Local media reports indicate that both sides have used various types of weaponry in the battle, and the extent of casualties remains unclear. It is also reported that there have been casualties brought to Las Anod, with efforts being made to provide medical assistance to those affected.
Furthermore, SSC, which has commented on the conflict, stated that Somaliland forces and allied tribal militias launched the attack. It is also mentioned that they have repelled an attack on their positions.
No information is available from the Somaliland side regarding the conflict or the claimed victory by SSC-Khatumo. The battle that occurred yesterday resulted in the death of 20 people and injuries to many others on both sides, and Somaliland also seized several vehicles.
The situation remains volatile, with military movements reportedly ongoing in some parts of Sool region, exacerbating the tension between the two sides.
