BOSSASO (SD) – Puntland security forces have reportedly arrested scores of people in connection with a series of attacks and explosions in Bossaso, the commercial capital of Puntland.
Explosions and attacks, resulting in deaths and injuries, have mostly targeted public places.
One of the attacks targeted the Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, which hit one of the presidential guards’ vehicles, killing two soldiers.
Some reports say up to 10 people have been arrested in connection with the bombings in Bossaso, including the one targeting the President with further investigations are underway.
Security forces said further investigations are underway into the Bossaso bombings, which will be shared with the public once completed.
Bossaso is the second city in Puntland hosting parliamentary elections, and a large number of delegates gathered there, including candidates for the 16 seats in Bossaso, and the President of Puntland.
