Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi, in his annual constitutional address to parliament today, addressed various issues including security, the budget, public policy corruption, Somalia, and elections in Somaliland.
Muse Bihi in his speech said 51% of Somaliland’s budget is spent on security, while the other 48% is for all other public service needs.
Speaking about the Somaliland elections, he said that the elections in Somaliland will have 993 candidates, adding that more then 600 candidates stand to lose and they should be prepared for that prospect.
Speaking on corruption, president Bihi said 31 officials had been charged, in a recent sweep by government public auditors.
Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi has called the people of Mogadishu hostage, pointing out that those currently in power are taking hostile measures that would forever divide the people.
President Bihi also addressed political issues between Somalia and specifically, politicians from Somaliland in Somalia.
“The law would be tightened against Somaliland officials in the Somali government, a number of them went back after they apologized.” he said.
