MOGADISHU (SD)-The U.S. Embassy in Somalia has congratulated Puntland on the one-person-one-vote elections held in its districts.

The U.S. congratulated the people of Puntland and their administration for implementing these elections, stating that the polls in Puntland are an important step that paves the way for advancing democracy in Somalia.

Countries that assist Somalia in electoral matters and democratic development have warmly welcomed the elections held across all districts of Puntland, where citizens elected their local councils.

However, the Federal Government of Somalia, which claims to be working towards one-person-one-vote elections, has not yet officially commented on Puntland’s success in conducting these elections.
