Galkayo (SD) – Commander of the 21st Division of the Somali Armed Forces Gen. Qooje Dagaari, the Commander of Danab Forces in Galmudug Col. Mukhtar and Danab Deputy Force Commander in Galkayo Marsho Mire were killed in a suicide bombing in South Galkayo this afternoon.

According to local reports, the blast was carried out by a person wearing explosives, took place in front of Abdullahi Isse football stadium.

The targeted officers were preparing for the arrival of the Prime Minister’s delegation at the airport.

The person who blew himself up, is said to have infiltrated the Army and security officials, prior to the explosion.

The scene turned chaotic, people fled, and several wounded were evacuated, according to witnesses.

No group has yet claimed the attack and the federal government is yet to respond to the attack.

The Prime Minister’s delegation was taken to the Presidential Palace in South Galkayo, where his security is heavily secured by the military.
