GALKAYO (SD)-At least 10 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in renewed clashes in the Mudug region today.
The conflict, which involved two rival clan militias inhabiting the area, is reportedly rooted in previous killings that occurred in areas under Afbarwaqo in Mudug.
This recent fighting follows days of ongoing violence in the region, which has already claimed the lives of at least 70 people and left many others injured.
The administrations of Galmudug and Puntland, from which the warring clans originate, are undertaking peace efforts to separate the militias.
A committee composed of ministers from both administrations has been deployed to address the conflict and has issued preliminary statements to support their ongoing peace efforts in western Mudug.
