MOGADISHU (SD) – Prime Minister Mohamed Roble has hit back the outgoing Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi hours after the latter accused the former of failing to deliver elections mandate.
In a sharp rejoinder, Roble said that Farmaajo has been working to undermine the elections since he handed responsibility to manage the exercise to the PM in May.
“We share with the Somali people and the international community that the President has spent time, money and mind during his tenure in office in an attempt to ensure that the elections are only responsive to his will or pave the way for a term extension,” Roble said in perhaps once of the fiercest charges against Farmaajo.
The prime minister reiterated his commitment to hold the national consultative forum, saying the meeting will go ahead as planned
Roble said thar his government is committed to avoid political and security crisis in the country.
The remarks come of the premier come hours after Farmaajo said Roble had deviated from the rules of the electoral process, he tore apart the mandate of the electoral commissions and violated their independence.’
Villa Somalia also accused the PM of being ‘slow’ in implementing the electoral mandate which was handed to him by the President on May1 this year.
