BAIDOA (SD) – Several Al-Shabaab commanders were killed and dozens sustained injuries in an airstrike in Bakool region, Southwest authorities.
In a statement, Southwest Security ministry said Somalia’s partners conducted an airstrike, targeting al-Shabaab compound in Ma’modow village, some 40km away from Hudur town. The airstrike took place in Bakool region.
“Somalia’s partners carried out an airstrike in which Al-Shabaab leaders were killed, they were having meeting during the attack,” the ministry said.
The number of the group’s commanders killed in the attack has not been disclosed.
US Mission in Africa have not yet commented on the aforementioned airstrike.
Since mid January when US troops were relocated from Somalia to other East Africa nation, US military carried out four airstrikes against al-Shabaab fighters.
US government withdrew an estimated 700 troops from Somalia on orders from former President Donald Trump.
