Kenya nabs three al-Shabaab suspects in security operation

GARISSA (SD) – At least three al-Shabaab suspects have been arrested following security operations by Kenyan forces in areas near Garissa County border with Somalia.

In a statement, the police on Sunday said more security officials have been deployed to the region to tame al-Shabaab gang that is roaming there causing destruction and disruption of businesses.

According to the statement, the security forces nabbed two locals and a man from Somalia in connection with the murder of the construction workers.

“The trio are suspected have taken part in the attack that claimed lives of non-locals who were working at a construction site in Dhobley town in Garissa County,” the statement reads in part.

Last Friday, suspected armed al-Shabaab fighters had stormed a construction site in Dhobley town, killing three non-locals and injuring another one.

According to the Police, the gang behind the attack was out to scare construction workers on various sites in the area.
