Farmajo meets with committee to Negotiate with Somaliland

Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, held a consultative meeting with the National Reconciliation Commission and Negotiations between the Federal Government and Somaliland.

News about the meeting was posted on the governments twitter account and was lacking substance.

“The President pointed out that the Commission’s commitment and work to the brief period of its work demonstrates the commitment of the FGS to move forward with the national plan for bilateral dialogue.” Read the tweet.

“The President reminded the Commission that they should have a long-term and fruitful solution to the nation, leading a national plan to address the concerns of our Somaliland brothers, in order to realize our joint principles of mutual consultation, patriotism and solidarity.” The statement said.

For their part, members of the National Reconciliation and Dialogue Committee of the Federal Government and Somaliland have shared with the President over the past few days information about the visible opportunities that result from the commission’s mandate and the challenges surrounding it.

The statement didn’t give details on the committees work and what was achieved during their tenure.

Somaliland had already rejected the negotiations committee and any future talks with president Farmajo’s government.
