Mogadishu July 23,20199SD)-At least 17 people have been killed and 30 injured in a car bomb blast on a heavily guarded road in the capital Mogadishu.
The al-Qaeda-allied group Al Shabab claimed responsibility for the explosion targeting the first checkpoint at Aden Adde airport on KM4.
The casualties and the injured of the attack include soldiers and civilians, and some of the injured have been reported to Medina hospital and are numbered 17 people.
The explosion has impacted commercial buildings near the site, as well as a gas station near the attacked checkpoint.
Security forces have tightened security in Mogadishu in recent times, and security forces’ actions, primarily by increasing traffic control and checkpoints, have led to a decrease in al-Shabaab attacks in the capital.
