A US citizen is appointed to a UN Deputy Special Representative to Somalia

NY(SD)-UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia to Adan Abdul Mulla.

Mulla, who is Sudanese, also holds a US citizenship and is a deputy to US Ambassador James Swan.

Adan Abdullala also will be the UN humanitarian coordinator for Somalia, replacing Canada’s George Conway.

Aden has worked in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait and other areas where he has been responsible for humanitarian, legal and human rights issues with more than 30 years of experience in international law and foreign relations.
