Mogadishu(SD)-Reports from Mogadishu confirm that Almas Elman, the sister of Elwad Elman, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize recently.

Almas was reportedly shot dead while in the Western diplomatic compound known as HALANE, one of the most secured areas in the country.

No details have been released yet on who was behind the shootings and was behind the killing except that shooting was confirmed.

Almas Elman, who served as Permanent Secretary at the Somali Embassy in Kenya, has now advocated for women’s rights.

Almas is a Somali Canadian from Ottawa, who went back to Somalia in order to assist the country’s stabilization efforts.
