Hargeisa (SD) – The British Ambassador to Somalia Amb Ben Fender has traveled to Hargeisa, Somaliland and met with president Muse Bihi today.
The ambassador, who is leading a delegation from his embassy in Mogadishu, met with Somaliland leader Muse Bihi Abdi, who discussed issues relating to elections in Somaliland.
A statement from the Somaliland presidency elaborated on the other issues that the ambassador had discussed with Muse Bihi, omitting the pressures of the UK ambassador to Bihi to return to the path of law and democracy in Somaliland.
“The meeting focused on ways to strengthen the traditional partnership between the two countries and on issues related to security in the Horn of Africa, to promote and enhance education, as well as a focus on local elections.
The President thanked the Ambassador and his delegation, for the working relationship between the two countries and for further strengthening that relationship.
For his part, the ambassador said the British government was always ready to work with Somaliland and to strengthen and monitor developments in the Horn of Africa region.” Said the presidential press release.
The two leaders of WADDANI and UCID, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Irro” and Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe had a meeting in Hargeisa with the British Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Ben Fender and the British Rep to Somaliland Stuart Brown.
“The meeting concluded with discussions on Somaliland elections in 2020, which the Somaliland community and the international community considers to be of interest of the country and its people, but not the Kulmiye government”. Said an statement from the opposition.
