Farmajo government tries to block former presidents flights

Mogadishu(SD)-A delegation led by former Presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed who were confined to the Mogadishu airport this morning has been cleared for their trip to Beledweyne.

The delegation was confined to the airport for hours, with the plane refused to leave Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, following a government directive to the airport authorities.

The government later agreed to release the plane, and allowed the delegation to travel to Beledweyne, the headquarters of Hiran region, as to provide relief for those affected by the river flooding in Beledweyne.

The donation was provided by the National Party Forum, which is affiliated with the majority of Mogadishu-based parties, who donated $ 200,000 to flood relief in Beledweyne.

It’s not the first time The federal government has tried to stop the former presidents travel.
