Mugadishu(SD)-Banadir governor and mayor of Mogadishu, Abdirahman Omar Osman (Eng Yariisow) has died at a hospital in Qatar, Somalia’s Minister of Youth and Sports Khadijo Mohamed Diriye has confirmed.

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo sends his heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and to all the people of Somalia who lost Mr. Abdirahman Osman Omar (Eng. Yarisisow).

“He will be remembered for his tireless service to the country and the people of Somalia and his commitment to the development of the city of Mogadishu and the fight against terrorism that has played a significant role.”

The President has instructed all government agencies to lower the Flag of the Republic during the Governor’s mourning period of three days.

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Hassan Ali Khayre has appointed a Cabinet committee to work on the burial of the Benadir governor, Eng. Abdirahman Omar Osman (Yarisow).

The deceased Abdirahman Yarisow was killed in an explosion inside a compound in Banadir region on Wednesday last week.

Aun Governor Yarisow has held various positions in the country.
