Hirshabelle ‘Floods displaced more than 450,000 people

Baladweyne(SD)-HiraShabelle Minister of Aid and Disaster Management Abdi Mahad Qoorgaab said floods have displaced about 450,000 people, who are fleeing the flooding of the Shabelle River.

The minister said that the rain fall was the strongest in Belet Weyne, Jowhar and Bulo Burde, residents fleeing after the river busted through it’s banks.

He said that the evacuees are facing a humanitarian situation in the outskirts of Beledweyne.

It is still raining in parts of Hiran and the Ethiopian highlands, increasing concerns for more flooding of the Shabelle River.
