Berbera(SD)-The Federal Government of Somalia has signed an agreement with the European Union to undertake development projects in Mogadishu, Somalia and the city Berbera in Somaliland.
Somali Minister of Planning Jamal Mohamed Hassan and EU Commissioner Stefano Mansevini signed the agreement in Mogadishu in the presence of Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre.
Somali Minister of Planning Jamal Mohamed Hassan, in his briefing on the agreement reached with the European Union, gave details of the economic scope of the agreement in Mogadishu and Berbera.
“This project is a $ 15 million project to build roads in Mogadishu’s Benadir region, and it is an ongoing project.” said Jamal Hassan.
“The city of Berbera has a budget of $ 7.5 million to address local government issues such as to repaire roads, sewerage and other key areas, and that money is being donated by the European Union.” added Minister Jamal Hassan.
It’s not clear how the Berbera project could be implemented, since Somalia and Somaliland do not collaborate on politicks let alone projects.
