Djibouti (SD) – Puntland President HE Said Abdullahi Deni met with Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh in Djibouti today.
After the meeting, President Deni spoke to the media and said that his visit was about seeing Djibouti and its progress.
“First of all, I thank the people, the Government and the President of Djibouti, President Ismail Omar Guelleh, he is a Somali elder who all Somalis no matter were they live, show honor, dignity and has great history among the Somali people,” President Deni said.
President Deni continued: “It is important that we visit, consult, and in general, to monitor the progress made, and request that they do all they can for Somalia in any situation”.
President Deni also said that him and Ismail Omar Guelleh talked about the 20th anniversary of the Arta conference and commended the role President Ismail Omar Guelleh played.
President Deni, however, pointed out the economic development in Djibouti, and hoped that they will cooperate more in the future.
The visit comes as both Djibouti and Puntland state of Somalia are feuding the federal government of Somalia.
Djibouti seems to be breaking with normal protocols with its official invitation with a local state, and by welcoming Deni as a leader of a country.
