James Swan ” Elections in Somalia are constrained by the conflict between the central and state governments

NY(SD)-United Nations Special Representative to Somalia James Swan told the United Nations Security Council that the conflict between the Federal Government of Somalia and the member states could hinder a planned election in Somalia.

Swan said in order to achieve a ” One man one vote” election, the central government and member states must end the conflict within themselves.

The United Nations envoy has said that for a whole year, there has been a conflict between the central government of Somalia and the regional administrations of Jubaland and Puntland.

But on the other hand James Swan has praised other government-led initiatives, such as security and economic growth, with a positive stance on the Somali Debt relieve Scheme, which the government worked together with international agencies.
