Kismayo(SD)-In Kismayo today, the commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Tigabu Yilma, held a meeting with the President of the Jubbaland regional state, Ahmed Mohamed Islam [Ahmed Madobe].

One of the key issues of the two-party meeting was the ongoing electoral process and the role of the African Union Mission in Somalia.

Vice President of Jubaland Mohamud Sayid Aden held conference in Kismayo, and said that the two sides discussed how to cooperate on safety measures when it comes to the election, he dismissed reports that AMISOM was planning to intervene in the elections.

The vice president added that the meeting was also mentioned  at speeding up operations against al-Shabaab in the Jubbaland areas.

He said the two finally agreed to co-operate on security during the elections by the Jubbaland Police and AMISOM Police.

Kismayo is currently hosting a delegation of  Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) who is holding meetings with the Jubbaland Electoral Commission.
