Kenyan parliament debates maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya

Nairobi(SD)-Kenya’s parliament has excepted a motion from the government, on how it should resolve maritime disputes with Somalia.

The motion proposes a number of steps the government should take to address this dispute, and the main contentious one is deploying the Kenyan army to occupy the disputed area.

Kenya’s rejection of the ICJ Act, in 1965 is the bases of their last ditch effort to claim the deputed area.

Kenya’s motion comes as the ICJ will once again hear the maritime lawsuit between Somalia and Kenya in September 2019.
