Hargeisa (SD) – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, and a large delegation led by him traveled to Ethiopia this afternoon for a few days.

The purpose of the trip was the same as the previous missions to the international and neighboring countries, he said.

The trip comes as all 54 African leaders are attending the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa this week.

“The president will hold meetings with African leaders there, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prof. Yasin Mohamoud Hirir (Faraton), who has been conducting diplomatic missions there,” he said.

The spokes person did not specify which leaders president Bihi could be meeting at the African union summit in Addis Ababa.

Spokes person Mohamud Warsame also said the president’s trip would strengthen the recent diplomatic activities of  the minister of foreign affairs and international co-operation in Addis Ababa.

The president of Somalia Mohamed Farmajo is also in Addis for the African Union meetings, and is rumored to be interested in meeting with the Somaliland President.

Both countries didn’t acknowledge the possibility or the interest of having their leaders meeting directly or in directly in Addis Ababa.
