President Bihi urges parties and Senate to nominate new Election Commission members

Hargeisa(SD)-Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi held a meeting with the leaders of the national parties today and discussed the three-party agreement on upcoming elections.

The meeting was attended by President Muse Bihi, UCID chairman Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe and Wadani National Party Leader Mr. Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan.

Opposition parties have voiced their discontent with the way the House of Representatives has barred the motion to increase the number of National Election Commission members, and said they strongly disagree the way it was stopped discussing the motion in the House of Representatives, as already reported in the media.

“The president urged the two national opposition parties to give priority on elections, and urged national parties to be patient with what they see is wrong, during the electoral process”. Said Mr. Bihi in a statement.

The meeting was about how to implement the agreement reached by the three parties, now that the Council of Representatives rejected the amendment to increase the electoral commission members before the elections.
