President Farmajo meets with the leadership of National Party Forum

Mogadishu(SD)-Former President of Somalia leading the National Party Forum details the issues agreed with the current Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo today.

Former President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who spoke to the media, detailed the agreed upon issues:

He said in the meeting it was agreed to ensure that elections are held on time and that the government and other political parties participate in the other meetings on the timing of the elections.

It was agreed to resolve the dispute between the Federal Government and some of the other regional governments in the country through dialog.

They discussed the constitutional issues and agreed that the government, politicians and the public should all defend the constitution.

Both sides agreed that the country’s security policy should not be politizised. The security agencies are not to be involved in politics and the military and security agencies are independent of the politics of the country.

The agenda of the conference included issues of Benadir region, and discussed how citizens of the state can exercise their rights and get political representation in the country, the president agreed.

The parties in the meeting today agreed to jointly fight against al-Shabaab.

President Farmajo has offered an apology for imposing a series of restrictions on the former presidents travels to Kismayo and Beledweyne recently.

But on the other hand, the Somali government has yet to release a statement on the meeting between the leaders of the national party and the president of Somalia.
