Borama(SD)-Former Somaliland president Dahir Rayale Kahin convened traditional leaders in Awdal region to resolve clan disputes that immerged after the presidential election.

Since the presidential election in Somaliland, it left that community divided, in order to resolve this issue, the former president convened the traditional leaders of Awdal region to came together. 

“The traditional leaders of western Somaliland have been called upon and we have had a great conference on the unity of Somaliland, we recognized some of the strong words exchanged during the election.” explained Sultan Dhowal.

Sultan Samatar also spoke to the need for the meeting convened by former President Dahir Riyale Kahin.

“We have discussed since the election is over, Let us leave the tribal problems behind and unite as to have a better election next time, we should work as brothers and Somalilanders as to ensure the  development of the western regions.” said Sultan Samatar.

The former Somaliland President Dahir Riyale explained the purpose for the conference was to reconcile after the negative statements made during the election, it is time for national unity.

Dahir Riyale is the only former Somaliland president who saw the need as a leader, to address the societal problems borne out of the last presidential election.
