Puntland Forces demonstrate, as they’re not paid for months

Garowe (SD) – Puntland President Said Deni, who attended the commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Somali police force, said his administration pays his troops monthly salaries.

The announcement led to some of Puntland forces demonstrating in the Bari region today, complaining about lack of pay and the president’s statement.

These forces have interrupted cross-border traffic in Puntland, they were demanding their salaries that they said was missing for several months.

Puntland military has had several trikes, most of them under President Gas, but the troops never took any further action.

President Deni, who has been in power for almost a year, is now busy correcting the shortcomings in the army, especially with the lack of enumeration as one of the major problems the forces are facing.
