Balad(SD)-Six African Union peacekeepers killed in ambush by al-Shabaab in Balcad district today.
The Burundian troops are said to have been attacked by Al-Shabaab fighters on a roadside compound between Balad district and Qalimow in the Middle Shabelle region.
The attack also injured three other soldiers in the AMISOM mission, while two others were missing.
This attack that killed six African Union peacekeepers comes just days after Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on the Benadir regional headquarters.
The road linking Mogadishu and Middle Shabelle region has been one of the most dangerous because of the attacks committed by Al Qaeda linked forces.
