Ankara (SD)-Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad, on Wednesday held bilateral talks with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in Ankara, signing an agreement to promote cooperation between the two ministries.
Minister Awad who spoke with the media said that the Turkish government was supporting them and called for peace between Somaliland and Somalia.
“Our brothers in Somaliland should rejoin the Somali government” Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Issa Awad told the Turkish media.
Turkey has already appointed special envoy for the Somaliland-Somalia talks, so did Somalia, but Somaliland has declined to participate in the talks.
The Turkish government didn’t comment on the Somalia and Somaliland talks, Turkey has a representative in Hargeisa and Mogadishu.
