Mogadishu (SD) – Hirshabelle State Minister of Justice HE Khalif Mumin Tohow has died today in the capital, Mogadishu due to Covid-19.

The minister’s death was confirmed by the Hirshabelle administration.

The deceased was one of two patients who were in a critical condition, according to Somalia’s Health Ministry.

He was admitted to a hospital in the capital few days ago and was one of 9 people diagnosed with Covid-19. He contracted the disease while in Jowhar town.

Hirshabelle state Parliament Speaker Sheikh Osman Bare Mohamed has confirmed that Hirshabelle huge community spread concerns with Covid-19, Adding Minister Tohow attended parliamentary and cabinet sessions regularly.

Mr. Tohow is the first Somali official to die of the Coronavirus in the country and the second known case of death in the country.
