Somalia: Puntland and Jubaland Governments rejected the Mogadishu Conference

Garowe(SD)-Puntland and Jubaland states of Somalia have boycotted the International Co-operation Conference held in Mogadishu today.

President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, who was invited to the meeting, refused to accept the invitation unless the Jubbaland president also be invited to the conference.

The federal government of Somalia didn’t invite the Jubbaland president Ahmed Madobe to the Somalia Cooperation Conference, as the controversy over the election of Ahmed Madobe’s new presidency isn’t resolved, which Villa Somalia claimed was unacceptable.

The Somali regional state of Jubaland has declared that it is not possible for the federal government to hold conferences, while the political tensions exists between the regional and the federal governments.

The International Conference on Somalia Cooperation comes at a time when the Puntland government and Villa Somalia have been at odds over the issue in the Jubbaland election.
