Somalia: WADJIR Party condemns fatwa against its leader

Mogadishu (SD) -The senior leadership of the WADJIR party has strongly condemned the move by the Somali federal government to promote the fatwas.

According to a press release from the party leadership, the Somali federal government on Wednesday gave Hassan Dahir Aweys, an incarcerated Somali cleric, brand the party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame an infidel.

According to the press release, Hassan Dahir has sentenced the leader of the WADJIR party to death through a fatwa, and the party accused Villa Somalia of organizing a social media campaign in promoting the Fatwa.

Also, the leader of the WADAJIR Party has accused NISA Commander of having a close relationship with Hassan Dahir Aweys, who is in the custody of the Somali National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA).

The WADAJIR leader is accused of promoting women’s rights and being against some clerks misinterpretations of Hadiths to demean women.
