Aden (S) – Former Horsed FC and national team player Said Duale has died in Aden, Yemen, where he has been ill for some time.
His funeral took place today at Al-ixsaan mosque, in Tawila neighborhood in Aden, where hundreds of Muslims prayed salat Janaza. He was 73 years old.
He was born in Aden in 1947, Yemen, he was one of the best players in Africa and the Arab world, for 10 years he also was the highest scorer in Somali football.
One of the most famous achievements of Said Duale was when he took Horsed to the CECAFA final in 1972 against Luo Union in Kenya, Horsed lost 2-1, Mr. Duale won best player that year.
He was famous for his scoring abilities, especially in free kicks, as fans referred to him as the king of football. He was admired in both African and Arab leagues.
Said Duale also played for Egypt’s Zamalek SC and Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates, though he spent little time playing for these teams due to injuries.
After retiring from football, he became a physical education teacher in Aden. He also coached and represented Yemen’s biggest youth group Al-tilal FC.
