Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland opposes the Somali Youth Development Project launched in Mogadishu by Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre, and US Ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto.
The project is aimed at developing youth in Somaliland’s major cities of Hargeisa, Borama and Burao, and the project is worth $ 1.6 milliont.
Hassan Mohamed Ali “Gafadhi”, Somaliland’s Minister of Planning, said the project was impossible to implement in Somaliland, due to Somalia’s involvement.
Gafadhi has completely rejected the possibility of Somaliland youth returning to their homeland with Somali government funded project.
It is not the first time that the Somaliland government under the leadership of Muse Bihi has rejected a development project through Somali federal government.
Mr. Gafadhi did not present a supplementary project for the country’s vulnerable youth population.
The Somali government or USA has commented on Somaliland’s rejection of the youth project.
