Somaliland to Ethiopia: we do not want Farmajo to visit Hargeisa

Hargeisa (SD) – The Government of Somaliland has sent a letter to the Government of Ethiopia, expressing its disapproval of President Farmajo arriving in the capital, Hargeisa.

The letter was to inform the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, that Somaliland is not ready to welcome Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo in Hargeisa, according to sources.

The letter, which contained the negative stance of the Somaliland government, was delivered to the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The source also added that the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, will speak at joint session of Parliament this week and explain the meetings he held in Addis Ababa and the massage he sent to the Ethiopian PM to discourage the arrival of the Somali president.

Somaliland politicians and the public both expressed their objection in having president Farmajo accompanying the Ethiopian PM on his visit to Hargeisa.
