Bossaso (SD)- The President of Puntland State of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Deni, today welcomed the Commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Stephen J. Townsend and his Lead delegation visit Bossaso.

President and Commander of the Africom Command Stephen J. Townsend has discussed public security and the fight against terrorism, according to a brief statement from the Puntland Presidential Palace.

Stephen J. Townsend, who on similar visit, went to Kismayo, where he met Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe.

The visit of the US military chief in Africa to Bossaso comes a day after the US said it would resume direct security support to Somalia forces.

The United States provides financial support to the PSF forces in Puntland, whose main task is to fight terrorism.
