Hargeisa(SD)-Somaliland Minister of Finance Sa’ad Ali Shire has offered his resignation to president Bihi, according to sources who didn’t want to be named.
The minister is said to want to resign over the handling of the Berbera port deal with DP World agreement fiasco.
According to the last budget and the agreement, Somaliland was to get a 30% of the port proceedings, and that amount was included in the budget, not this upcoming budget.
The Somaliland Finance Minister doesn’t want to be answering to the whereabouts of the 30% went this time around, therefore sees his resignation as away out for both the president and himself.
President Bihi is said to agree with the minister, but has also asked Sa’ad Shire to wait a pending cabinet reshuffle.
Sources close to both the president and minister Sa’ad Shire indicate that the post would likely go to Faduma Said the former Wadani foreign affairs critic.
If the post goes to her, it will sure be another missed opportunity to equally balance the nations power sharing structure.
