Garowe(SD)-The Puntland state parliament has today approved the provisional electoral commision of Puntland’s multi-party system.

The nine-member committee was nominated in July by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and former parliamentary speaker, Abdihakim Dhobo.

The 50 lawmakers in the parliament all voted in favor of the creation of a new democratic system that was expected to bring Puntland to the democratization process which has already failed twice.

Puntland said that one man one vote elections will soon be conducted in a few districts.

However, there has not been a single registered political organization, and the Election Commission has not yet begun to open political associations.
