DHUSAMAREB (SD) – At least 12 Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) agents including head of NISA in Dhusamareb were this afternoon killed in al-shabaab attacks outside Dhusamareb town.
Abdirashid Nuur Qooje who was head of NISA in Dhusamareb town was killed alongside his four bodyguards after their vehicle hit by landmine. in El-Dhere village.
The vehicle of the boss was extensively damaged by the explosion.
Meanwhile, six other Somali soldiers were killed after forces heading the village to collect the bodies of the officers were ambushed by al-Shabaab fighters.
According sources, during the fighting, Somali forces also killed number of fighters.
The blast comes days after Somalia’s elite forces killed over ten al-Shabaab fighters in two separate attacks.
The militants had fire more shells in Dhusamareb town which hosting forum for federal and regional leaders.
During the operations, the forces also recovered weapons and a pick-up truck.
