NAIROBI (SD) – The Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has apologized to Somalia for displaying the Somaliland flag today at an event hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the invitation of international diplomats in Nairobi.
The Somali government has demanded that the Kenyan government explain its alleged violation of Somalia’s sovereignty from the Republic of Kenya, according to a complaint statement by the Somali embassy in Nairobi.
Kenya said it valued the independence of Somalia and apologized for the presence of the Somaliland flag at the annual Diplomatic Function and said it would work closely with the Somali embassy in Kenya.
