Hargeisa (SD) – The 5th conference of the Somaliland Lawyers Association (SOLLA) has opened in Hargeisa today, slated to elect a new leadership of the organization.

The two day conference was attended by ministers, members of the judiciary, human rights organizations and some international organizations and was opened by Somaliland’s Minister of Justice Saleban Warsame Guled.

Ministry of Justice said currently working with the Somaliland Bar Association (SOLLA) and is looking forward in working with the new leadership to be elected at the 5th conference.

Mohamed Haji Aden Elmi, Somaliland’s Minister of Council Relations and Constitutional Affairs speaking at the conference said the country’s bar association and the judiciary were doing the same job for the nation as health workers, and needed to be improved and reformed.

Marodi-jeex Regional Prosecutor Mawlid Abdi Muse said the Somaliland Bar Association works closely with the judiciary, and play a role in the country’s justice and the judiciary systems.
