Hargeisa (SD) – A 13-year-old girl was raped at the Hargeisa Orphanage Center, according to a Facebook post by Somaliland reporter Salma A Sheikh.

The news comes amid rising similar incidents in the Somali region of Horn of Africa.

According to the social media post, the rape of this 13- year old girl was carried out multiple times, and she is now pregnant.

Reports of the raped girl also indicates that about five boys have been arrested for the crime.

The apparent rape took place almost 6 months ago, sources estimate.

Neither the Hargeisa Orphanage nor the Somaliland Government have comment on the case yet.
