Minneapolis (SD) – Sahra Abukar, a Somali immigrant who is currently residing in the United States, has won the Muslim beauty pageant in that country.

After her victory, Sahra said she wanted to set an example for all Muslim women in the US.

Sahra Abukar designs clothes and has famously made most of clothe she wore at competitions.

“When you hear about Abayah, the first thing that comes to your mind is black garment. I love black, it is my favorite color. But when it comes to Abayah, I like bright colors. ” She said.

The 23-year-old pageant winner lived in Turkey for seven years before moving to the United States in 2014.

This is the fourth year that 15 girls between the ages of 15 and 30 have competed in this year’s competition.
