Guriel (SD) – Ahlu Sunna forces based in Guriel town reportedly expanded their presence in the region, have captures new territories from Al Shabab this morning.

Ahlu Sunna forces reportedly have taken control of Afcaag, Dhagaxya-weyn and Jiif Harare areas in Galgadud region, and no fighting has taken place there due to Al-Shabaab withdrawal.

Ahlu Sunna officials taunting their success today said their operations will continue and will target other areas where Al-Shabaab is based.

Last Friday, Ahlu Sunna forces took control of the town of Guriel in Galgadud region from Galmudug administration forces, and tensions remain high over the capture of Guriel.

A formal solution has been reached to the conflict between the two sides, and various efforts are underway to resolve the dispute between Ahlu Sunna and Galmudug, with efforts by lawmakers and other members of the community.
