Hargeisa (SD) – The weekly meeting of the Somaliland Council of Ministers held today chaired by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi focused on Covid-19 situation and the decision to deport Southerners from Las Anod.
The Council heard a report from the Chairman of the National Committee of Covid-19, the Vice President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Seylici, elaborating on the situation of Covid-19 in the country, noting that in the last three months there has been an increase in deaths from the virus. He also said that the Commission will issue decisions on the prevention and control of Covid-19.
The Council of Ministers heard a briefing from the Ministerial Delegation on Security Operations in Sool Region, and briefed the Cabinet members on the progress made so far, saying the security operation is progressing well.
“The Council commended the efforts to strengthen security in Sool Region, carried out by these members and the people they deported from that city.” Said the presidential statement.
Somaliland’s deportation of Somalis from Las Anod has sparked much controversy, with condemnations coming from Somalia’s PM.
