BOSSASO (SD) – According to security sources, an airstrike targeted one of the Daesh (ISIS) bases in the Cal Miskat mountains of the Bari region yesterday afternoon.
The attack was carried out by fighter jets belonging to international partners involved in Somalia’s counterterrorism operations. Reports indicate that the airstrike destroyed one of Daesh’s key bases in the area.
The Puntland administration confirmed that the airstrike took place in parts of the Bari region where Daesh militants were present but did not provide details on casualties.
Speaking on behalf of the Puntland operation, General Mahamoud Mohamed Ahmed stated that the airstrikes targeted multiple locations within Bari, where Daesh forces were stationed.
Puntland has launched an existential battle against Daesh, which seeks to gain power and destabilize the region. In the initial operations, 12 foreign fighters were killed after attacking a military base.
