Mogadishu Feb 07, 2023 (SD) -The police force in the East region of the Banadir region in Somalia shot and killed a person allegedly belonging to Al-Shabaab militants last night.

The shooting occurred after the man and two others allegedly attacked a police checkpoint in the Heliwaa district, specifically in the Suuqa Xoolaha neighborhood.

The armed militants allegedly attacked the checkpoint, but the police engaged them in a fight and shot one of them.

The police reported that the person they shot was carrying an RBG rifle, which has now been seized by the Somali police.

The general command of the Banadir regional police previously identified individuals they claimed were part of Al-Shabaab and gangs carrying out violent attacks on the security of the capital.
